The Hot Box Syphon is designed to work with any existing upright water heater. This ingenious design allows you to use the water tank as a storage tank for your domestic hot water. The water is stored at a temperature of 180 degrees Fahrenheit so a mixing valve should be used to make sure that the water temperature is not too hot. By using this method the hot water supply can be increased by up to 50%. The natural convection in the tank transfers the heat to the top of the tank where it is drawn from. If you exhaust the supply of hot water in the tank, your water heater will come on to make up the difference.

We recommend the use of the insulated piping by Insul-Seal Insulated Water and Sewer Pipes. This will provide R-15 and will not loose more than 3 degrees per 100 foot run. It is easy to put together and comes in 10 foot sections with elbows. This increases the efficiency of your furnace and reduces wood consumption.
